Wauwatosa, You Ready for This?

The next Tosa Tonight is one of the most anticipated of the season with Milwaukee’s own incomparable Lex Allen opening for the energetic JC Brooks Band. Not only is this double-billing phenomenal, but it promises to be one of the most unforgettable Tosa Tonights.

I stand by that statement.

Fist, Lex. I mentioned that he is without compare. In a crowded field of other incomparable and fantastic Milwaukee musicians, Lex stands apart. His blend of pop-soul is smooth, funky, catchy, and danceable. Lex, too, knows how to entertain, and his style is unlike any others on the Milwaukee music scene.

As a volunteer photographer, me and my camera can not wait for Lex Allen.

How does Tosa Tonight follow up with such after such a dynamic and eclectic artist as Lex? With Chicago’s sizzling JC Brooks Band, of course.

JC Brooks is a well-known name to Milwaukee-area Wilco fans (of which I am one). 88NINE RadioMilwaukee was a frequent spinner of JC Brooks’ reconstructed versions of one of Wilco’s most deconstructed songs: I Am Trying To Break Your Heart.

Man, if you’re going to cover a song, do it like this. Who would have thought that Wilco’s spatial, cacophonic, and almost dystopian lead track could be remade into a danceable number? That’s genius.

So, get ready to shake what your mama gave ya, ‘cause JC Brooks band is going to rock you harder than a bumpy shuttle ride to a Brewers game.

Can’t wait.

Great one, Tosa Tonight!
